white shirt wasted

awkward:
1. when you make a blog post title and realize that 95% of readers will probably look at it and ultimately think it states "white girl wasted". and it doesn't. just a nice simple pun to go along with the day i have had.
1.5. awkwardly realizing that the "95% of readers" is, in all actuality, very few, seeing as my total ranks in at 18. hey, a girl can dream like she's made it big here.
2. the day i have had. awkward at it's finest. because apparently it is national drop everything all over all the white articles of clothing you are wearing that day. for example: white coat, meet coffee. white shirt, meet soup. white socks, meet water.
i digress.
3. when you just can't seem to figure out what on earth someone is saying so you just keep nodding your head. and then you get caught.
4. having to ask the question, "but how did you know that there was poop in the locked bathroom stall?"

awesome:
1. finally getting to see all my college girlfriends, all in one place, for one amazing weekend.

2. my niece finally learning how to use those little legs of her to book it around in the big world now! and just in time for her birthday too. don't you worry little S, auntie em has a post dedicated to you and your first birthday party up her sleeve...just gimme a little more time :)
3. autumn really getting her stuff together and coming at me full swing this week. fifty degree temperatures, i welcome you with open and loving arms.
4. text messages that start off my day in all sorts of a happy kind of way.
5. pumpkin. spice. everything.

by the way, is there anything more awesome than this? Bre from oh, pish posh has got diy down like nobody else.

when life gives you grapes, wine a little

in the caves at the yuengling brewery

my college roomie and i have a firm appreciation for wine. many friday nights were spent with a bottle (or box) shared between us, fatty girl night treats, and a chick flick or two from the red box. we swore that one way or another we would actually go on a wine tasting tour - this time without being the designated drivers for a bunch of middle aged women. true story.
so when the opportunity presented itself to take a mini-bus to the yuengling brewery and surrounding wineries for the day, roomie called me up and i (excitedly) accepted. so here are just a few snapshots of a wonderful saturday including lots of girl talk, lots of giggles, and maybe a little bit of wine-ing.

at pinnacle ridge winery (left two photos) and outside at the blair winery (right)

happy friday!
and may the wine be ever in your future.
and go USA! (may the gold be ever in your future)

that truth, beauty and goodness exist in the world,
and that, no matter what,
there are and always will be people loving people
through thick and thin."

i was reunited with my best friend and all i got was this t-shirt

i didn't get a t-shirt.
but when i was little i always adored the t-shirts that said stuff like "my parents went to hawaii and all i got was this t-shirt" or "somebody in idaho loves me". i'm not sure why, but i just wanted one with all my little 10-year-old heart.
anywho..to begin a girls night we had to have an outfit:
blouse h&m (similar here & here); jeans elle from kohl's (for $10 here); sandals (last seen here); sunnies h&m; ring francesca's; ID bracelet (old)
and then we had to have ourselves a dinner complete with ordering three types of appetizers to share between the two of us, martinis & mohitos (because we are legal babes and all) and had ourselves a whole lot of fun catching each other up on the ins and outs of our lives. lets face it, when we do this over the phone (and e-mail, and text messages) it just isn't the same as her sitting right there with me.
all day long i sat around like a child on christmas eve just waiting and anticipating the moment that would mean christmas has arrived. you know the feeling of being filled to the tips of your fingers and toes with happiness and joy and warm fuzzies.

which got me thinking of all of the wonderful things we will do over these next few weeks while she is home. which led me to think back on all of the hours and hours i spent with her day in and night out at our little dance studio where we first became friends and how i would give anything in this world to be 12 and with her every day of my life. the girl is practically my sister. she knows me better then i know myself. it makes me believe sometimes that maybe we have two soulmates, the male version and the female version. this girl would be it. i'd die without her. (no joke).

so as i drove home and contemplated this post right down to the very last point of how i didn't know how i could make it anything short of a novel, i thought back to everything that a friendship means to one's soul. one's being. how there are so many people that walk in and out of our lives so freely that it takes you a few minutes to even realize that they may be gone. how at each point of my life i can point out people that were there and people that were gone the next but how heavy of an impact they may have left behind. and i realized that amongst all of those faces, some i can still see and some that have gotten blurred over the years, she is the one friend i have had that has stood the test of time and now distance. she is a friend that i have had throughout each milestone in my life. and i love her, and its as simple as that.

if you're happy and you know it

happy, happy, happy
source
it is simply, as simple, as that.

happy friday! i will be spending my weekend with all of my family back together in one single place. thank you new york for lending my sister and brother-in-law to me, even if it is only for a few short days. and that sweet little niece of mine, i'm never letting her go (much dismay to grandma and paw paw of course - sorry mom and dad).

and to the state of alabama. (sweeeeet home alabama - you know
I had to) thank you for finally returning my best friend to me for a little while. today she returns!

A&A : remix style

shirt forever21 (old)(similar); pants LC Lauren Conrad (old)(similar); belt target; sandals forever 21(old)

the awkward: girl versus the dressing room debacle.
girl walks in to h&m. annoying pre-teens are standing in front of every rack as girl meanders throughout store that she wants to look at. pre-teens are making a HUGE scene, as in "hi i'm going to obnoxiously scream in my friends face about how "adorbs" this hat is. "like oh-em-gee i have got to freaking buy this!" (puts hat back). anyway. girl manages to snag few items and run in to dressing room thinking that she has finally gotten away from obnoxios pre-teens.

girl was wrong. oh so very very wrong. pre-teens just had to be the in the three dressing rooms surrounding her while guy friend is sitting on the bench, camera in hand, to "judge their outfits". (i'm not making this up). so as each pre-teen girl tries on each new item of clothing they show boy and boy takes a picture to help him judge which outfit is the best. meanwhile, they are cackling (yes as in the evil witch from every disney movie) to the point that girl is assuming they will be rolling on the floor soon and die of laughter. laughter reaches a deafening pitch. girl has to cover mouth because she knows it is inappropriate to scream at these pre-teen babies but....she screams bloody murder at them anyway.

okay, not really, girl didn't. girl kept her mouth shut like a class-act, purchased her items and left the store. then, in the privacy of her own car did she scream a little.

the awesome: three little lovelies (brought to you in espanol - sort of).
(uno)  this girl, right here, won her very first giveaway over here. i was so stoked i was jumping up and down, screaming, and busting out in a fit of giggles. called my sister. the whole enchilada. now i know what you're thinking - too much. but it wasn't. so keep an eye on the blank pages not only because she is one great lady but my face may be appearing there come july!

(dos)   hi, my name is tutor girl (anyone else remember this from one tree hill, the early seasons?). i shall be tutoring two little munchkins this summer, maybe even three. sticker charts, flashcards, books, here i come!

(tres)  that little outfit up there? never thought i'd see the day i would tuck a shirt in to jeans. oddly enough, i always felt like it made me look even shorter then i normally am and vowed to never wear it against my own free will. but here i am, good choice or not, and i am loving it. shout out to the little leopard belt for just being so darn irresistible.

best friend countdown: 1 DAY!

it's a bird, it's a plane

It's a CAT! Well, in all honesty it is an extremely talented young woman playing a cat in an aerial ballet performance during a performance of CATS (the musical), but...we wouldn't have to get that technical.

Just a quick hello to all who stopped by on this dreary Friday night.  Now be prepared and pull out your very best pare of totally excited, gloating, proud-momma-bragging-rights galore pants.  That picture up there is a beautiful way to capture my very best friend in all of her dancing glory.  This one goes out to you dearest, for I love you and am so proud of you, always.
