white shirt wasted

awkward:
1. when you make a blog post title and realize that 95% of readers will probably look at it and ultimately think it states "white girl wasted". and it doesn't. just a nice simple pun to go along with the day i have had.
1.5. awkwardly realizing that the "95% of readers" is, in all actuality, very few, seeing as my total ranks in at 18. hey, a girl can dream like she's made it big here.
2. the day i have had. awkward at it's finest. because apparently it is national drop everything all over all the white articles of clothing you are wearing that day. for example: white coat, meet coffee. white shirt, meet soup. white socks, meet water.
i digress.
3. when you just can't seem to figure out what on earth someone is saying so you just keep nodding your head. and then you get caught.
4. having to ask the question, "but how did you know that there was poop in the locked bathroom stall?"

awesome:
1. finally getting to see all my college girlfriends, all in one place, for one amazing weekend.

2. my niece finally learning how to use those little legs of her to book it around in the big world now! and just in time for her birthday too. don't you worry little S, auntie em has a post dedicated to you and your first birthday party up her sleeve...just gimme a little more time :)
3. autumn really getting her stuff together and coming at me full swing this week. fifty degree temperatures, i welcome you with open and loving arms.
4. text messages that start off my day in all sorts of a happy kind of way.
5. pumpkin. spice. everything.

by the way, is there anything more awesome than this? Bre from oh, pish posh has got diy down like nobody else.

USA! ALL THE WAY! pt.2

now, if you haven't noticed, the olympics have been in full swing for the last twelve or so days.
and i've been told by someone that i'm an "addict" when it comes to the olympics. who relapses every four years. (i corrected him when i told him that this may be true for the summer olympics but what about the winter olympics? i sure do love me some speed skating.)
and as the olympics wind down i find that my twitter account (which now has well over 100 tweets about the olympics) and my blog may not be sure what to do with themselves. instagram on the other hand, will be happy to go back to having real pictures instead of those i take of my tv screen.
anywho.
i've got for you on this thursday, part two of awesome olympic-ness. (which was quite difficult seeing as there is so much awesome going on this past week) so here we go:

5. the final race
michael phelps. most decorated olympian of all time. 18 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze. i'm going to sincerely miss seeing your name on my screen in four years. what an amazing athlete. i'll be a phan phorever.

4. three-peat
misty may-treanor and kerri walsh-jennings are three-peat olympic gold medalists in women's beach volleyball. 21-0 in matches, 43-1 in sets. and to top it off, they won it in an all-american game, with jennifer kessy and april ross walking away with the silver.

3. local gold
jamie gray is from my hometown. she just nearly missed gold in the '08 beijing games in both of her events. four years later and gray is golden.

2. girl power.
gabby all-around. aly floor final. aly beam final. mckayla vault final.
gabby gold. aly gold. aly bronze. mckayla silver.
the fabfive, the fierce five. girl power.

1. a true inspiration
"the blade runner". this is by far one of the most touching and inspiring stories i've heard. i cannot wait to see him race on the south african relay team. read more about oscar here.

USA! ALL THE WAY!

it's been quite some time since i have posted an awkward and awesome post on a thursday, and this week will be no exception, i'm just simply not in to it.
so in lue of the olympics - which by the way, is anyone else sort of annoyed that they seem to announce everywhere who won what metal for what event before they even air it on television? this is slightly unbelievably annoying to me. and thus i have to avoid all sorts of social media and even instagram so i can watch the events...
anyway as if that wasn't a rant and a half.
here are my top 5 most awesome moments this past week at the olympics:

5. "michael, i admire you"
yes, the south african swimmer out-swam phelps by a mere five one-hundredths of a second to clench gold. but what was of highest of importance was the honor of being able to swim next to phelps and let him know, just moments after the race, that he admires michael.
to me, this is the true spirit of the olympics.

4. first time gold

nathan adrian. in the pool. winning by one-one hundredths of a second.

3. the come-back kid

this kid right here managed to come back, with only two events left, from a daunting17th place and snag the bronze medal in the all-around men's final last night. unbelievable right?

2. the #fabfive

seeing as i am old enough to remember watching in awe of the '96 women's gymnastics team - aka the magnificent seven - these ladies had huge shoes to fill in my eyes. and ladies did you ever do it. making history one near perfect (come on, mckayla totally got jipped) score after another.

1. michael phelps

i have been and always will be a fan of you. you did the unthinkable in beijing beating mark spitz's record and now are thee greatest athlete of all time with those 19 lucky medals draping around your neck. i'll still be jumping up and down and covering my eyes during each one of your remaining races, no matter what the outcome.

U-S-A!

awesome, awesomer, awesomest

this week i am fresh out of awkward. i didn't get my hair stuck to velcro for ten minutes (seriously, who does this?) i didn't get locked in a bathroom in a foreign country accidentally (this really did happen, at the age of 11). and it has been at least a week since i tried to talk like yoda in starwars. "do or do not, there is no try".

that being said, the title of this post is misleading. nothing that out of the blue awesome, awesomer, or awesomest happened this week. but here are few pretty awesome things that made me smile (and in no specific order).

-- sitting at a five guys for three whole hours catching up with one of my dearest friends.
-- happy hour half price appetizers with yet another wonderful friend. really, what more can a girl ask for? more food at a fraction of the cost? i know, i know, too good to be true. i'll see ya in thirty minutes.
-- texts that make me smile endlessly.

and now i am off to my happy place.
see photo above.
with thirty random people. just kidding, they aren't all random, they are all family-ish.
but i may or may not be popping in from time to time.
until then i will be doing some serious bonding with my beach chair, sunscreen, and sweet salt air.
adios muchachas!

A&A

dress LC lauren conrad for kohl's; purse j.crew; wedges (last seen here, here & here)

awkward:
-- the case of the missing arm. sometimes it just happens when you take pictures. and sometimes you gotta post um...ya win some, ya lose some. no pun intended.
--  to the awkward boy swimming laps in the community pool at my friends apartment complex. please stop. you are not michael phelps.
-- to doug on the bachelor: did em finally give you those "give me a kiss eyes" that you were looking for? something tells me that they may have been more like "i'm sending you home eyes" but i applaud your effort as i painfully watched it all unfold.
-- ever try to blow your nose while your nails are drying from a fresh coat of paint? i did. and thanks to mother dearest we have photographic proof of how awkward it is. even more akward, that i'm sharing the lovely proof with you:

awesome:
-- mamma mia! mom and i went to see the wonderful show tuesday night and were singing (or at least i was) along with every song (and still am!). i mean honestly i was practically dancing in my seat. and giddy as a school girl. check #5 off of my "summer bucket list" please and thanks. and go listen to the soundtrack on youtube. i know i will be the next week or so.
-- dresses. i think i have an addictive relationship with them. and this little kelly green number that i wore for the show tuesday night was by far one of my favorite purchases yet.
-- to the wind: thanks for giving me a sultry windblown look in the above pictures. good timeing since my wind machine broke down that day.

6.21.2012

A&A

awkward:
-- the fact that i have had 4 cups of coffee today and i still am having that whole head-bobbing-fighting-to-keep-my-eyes-open-about-to-fall-asleep feeling.
-- falling as i'm trying to get out of a skirt in the dressing room. how would anyone know right? oh i just happened to loudly thud against the dressing room wall.
-- that awkward moment when you realize that you and friend have been standing in the outlet parking lot for fifteen minutes staring at this lady getting her car searched by 4 police officers as she is screaming "i'd like for you to tell me what i stole!" at the 5th officer.
--  it's only what time? and i'm ready for bed? just call me grandma.
-- when running in to someone that one of your parents knows and the first question out of their mouth is "what grade are you in now?" "ninth?". and the shock that registers across their face when you tell them that you are out of college. and even better the dumb-founded "nooooo" response they always give followed hand in hand with the "someday you will appreciate how young you look". someday. i'm still waiting for that day...
awesome:
-- that dear old emily finally had the balls (yup, i said it) to not give ryan that rose. and as much as i sat there on the edge of my seat...err couch...with steam spewing from my ears as ryan went on and on for about ten minutes thinking he was going to "manipulate" (i'm pretty sure he referenced himself as someone who can "manipulate the situation") emily in to giving him the rose...i even managed a full out giggle when she sent mr. turquoise suede shoes packing.
can i get an amen?
-- that this week has been spent at breakfasts with one best friend, lunches with other best friend, and the weekend is about to be spent with yet another best friend. i've managed to jam-pack my week with as much girl talk, hazelnut coffees, giggles, sunshine by the pool and best friends as possible and i.freakin'.love.it.
-- camp creepy crawlers, bug expert extraordinaire. five and six year olds. love. sums it all up.

A&A : remix style

shirt forever21 (old)(similar); pants LC Lauren Conrad (old)(similar); belt target; sandals forever 21(old)

the awkward: girl versus the dressing room debacle.
girl walks in to h&m. annoying pre-teens are standing in front of every rack as girl meanders throughout store that she wants to look at. pre-teens are making a HUGE scene, as in "hi i'm going to obnoxiously scream in my friends face about how "adorbs" this hat is. "like oh-em-gee i have got to freaking buy this!" (puts hat back). anyway. girl manages to snag few items and run in to dressing room thinking that she has finally gotten away from obnoxios pre-teens.

girl was wrong. oh so very very wrong. pre-teens just had to be the in the three dressing rooms surrounding her while guy friend is sitting on the bench, camera in hand, to "judge their outfits". (i'm not making this up). so as each pre-teen girl tries on each new item of clothing they show boy and boy takes a picture to help him judge which outfit is the best. meanwhile, they are cackling (yes as in the evil witch from every disney movie) to the point that girl is assuming they will be rolling on the floor soon and die of laughter. laughter reaches a deafening pitch. girl has to cover mouth because she knows it is inappropriate to scream at these pre-teen babies but....she screams bloody murder at them anyway.

okay, not really, girl didn't. girl kept her mouth shut like a class-act, purchased her items and left the store. then, in the privacy of her own car did she scream a little.

the awesome: three little lovelies (brought to you in espanol - sort of).
(uno)  this girl, right here, won her very first giveaway over here. i was so stoked i was jumping up and down, screaming, and busting out in a fit of giggles. called my sister. the whole enchilada. now i know what you're thinking - too much. but it wasn't. so keep an eye on the blank pages not only because she is one great lady but my face may be appearing there come july!

(dos)   hi, my name is tutor girl (anyone else remember this from one tree hill, the early seasons?). i shall be tutoring two little munchkins this summer, maybe even three. sticker charts, flashcards, books, here i come!

(tres)  that little outfit up there? never thought i'd see the day i would tuck a shirt in to jeans. oddly enough, i always felt like it made me look even shorter then i normally am and vowed to never wear it against my own free will. but here i am, good choice or not, and i am loving it. shout out to the little leopard belt for just being so darn irresistible.

best friend countdown: 1 DAY!

5.31.2012

wait, what day is it?

awkward:
--  oh wonderfully, cherry red, lobster-esq sunburn, how i love thee.
--  my skin looking like a spider inhabited it considering all that glorious sunburn is now beginning to peel. yippee!
-- when the lady at homegoods remembers you. at least she doesn't know me by first name. yet.
--  when you are the loudest ones in the dairy queen. and your aunt is reciting every word she knows from the movie bridesmaids. actually, if you knew my aunt and her story telling abilities, this might lean more towards awesome.
-- three day weekends throw me off once the normal week resumes itself. throws me off so that i woke up wrestled around in bed at midnight contemplating why i didn't roll the garbage cans out for the nice garbage men to collect them in the morning. geeze three day weekends, now i'm losing sleep over you, and not in the giddy-kid-on-christmas-morning kind of way.

awesome:
--  as if i couldn't already be obsessed with carly rae jepsen's "call me maybe", i stumbled upon the link to this video via this blog. i just can't stop watching it.
--  that little blog up there, she is one of my new favorite reads!
-- that my very best friend in the whole entire world (no kidding!) is coming home in eight, count'um, EIGHT very short (which will more then likely drag on and on) days! i mean i can barely contain my excitement. excuse me while i burst out in song and dance (probably to call me maybe).
--  oh, and this little video. you bet i cried.
-- and probably the most amazing news that i cannot wait to share, so awesome that it may borderline the sort of moments that can only be defined and proclaimed by bursting in to a room and screaming it from the top of my lungs. in a fashion similar to Buddy the Elf when he falls in love. (except i'm not in love) (cue video).

5.24.2012

A&A (on a field trip day!)

awkward:
--  automated phone calls. i crack up every time, i just can't help myself.
--  showing up to sub yesterday and having the secretary ask me if i "didn't know". apparently that is what they ask you when you show up on "fun day" a.k.a "run around all day long outside day" in dress clothes and not the gym class attire that the rest of the faculty is decked out in. no i did not get the memo. but bless all of them for trying to find me clothing to wear. also, bless living close enough to go and get the appropriate attire once the memo was received.
--  remember this post? awkward written all over it.
--  the HUGE (i mean really, i thought it was a small dog) groundhog that has become a permanent resident at my house. on our front porch. scratching to get in the front door. oh, and hiding underneath my car as i am packing it to go leave to sub. i may never leave the house again.
-- fun fact: did you know that groundhogs can be extremely vicious towards children and dogs?

awesome:
-- being a teacher. yup. i thank God every day for the calling i have and the career that found me.
--  going on a field trip with six first grade classes, most importantly the one i student taught in, and getting to watch thee junie b. jones in all of her real-world-living glory (if you don't know who she is, she is kinda a huge deal in first grade). followed by a picnic lunch and a glorious afternoon in the park.
--  the comparison i use that my height is comparable to a "fun sized" candy bar. instant conversation changer? you bet. do i use it a lot? you sure bet i do.
--  old navy's accessories. nautical themed bow for my hair = check.
--  my obsession with country music as of late. honestly i cannot get enough. add the windows down and the sun only setting after 8:30, and you make for a happy girl. seriously, you should see my smile right about now.

and the ultimate awesome for this week: that tomorrow morning i am off to enjoy myself some sand, sea, and sun for the entire weekend. oooooooo yeah.

5.17.2012

A&A

awkward:
- after the dentist is finished and the novocaine feeling is still tingling through your mouth, lip, tongue..and you sound as if you are drunk when you are talking. oh, and what about attempting to eat with no control of the right side of your mouth. makes for great dinner entertainment.
- speaking of novocaine...dontcha just love the feeling you have when it all wears off? like that mouth is screwed shut and you can barely open it to eat a bowl of cereal the next day type feeling?
- bug bites. huge bug bites.
- i give an immense amount of brownie points to sales clerks who offer styling opinions and show you things you may be interested in - really i do, and i honestly love it, most of the time. but on a day like yesterday, when you approach me for the tenth time, i kind of just want to shop by myself. so please just let me slink away and try to figure out the discounts in my head without you mentioning for the third time how great one of your skinny belts would look with the dress i'm holding.
- this week. i think the days started going in reverse. hi thursday, what took you so long.
- allergies. eye watering, nose running, sneezing, barely breathing,
allergies.
welcome back.

awesome:
- my brand new curling iron. ya know the kind that you just wrap your hair around. totally worth the money i spent since my hair is as straight as a stick.
curling-iron-magic.
- the fact that this past weekend i spent TWO, count'um, TWO days out in my backyard in my bathing suit soaking up that beautiful sun. hello sun, it's so nice to be back.
- when one of your favorite movies is on tv right smack dab in the middle of the dreariest days and it is starring heath ledger. two thumbs up.
- remember this little baby that i mentioned in this post? well, i finally gave in. not only did i walk out of the j.crew factory store with an array of beautifully colored pieces (really how awesome are all the bright colors this season?) but that little beauty finally came home with me for a reasonably discounted price.
- teacher id = teacher discount. enough said.
- how many books i have read since i graduated. now, to kindle or not to kindle?

5.03.2012

A&A (on a busy day)

awkward
- living out of a suitcase. for those of you who yearn for the life of a world class traveler or wanderer or whim-decision-maker, i bow down to you because these last few days have driven me completely up a wall. call me a homebody and a homebody i shall be. proudly.
- when you order a wrap and you see "cajun mayo" and instead get "burning my mouth off and stomach about ready to abandon ship". mmmm, burning insides.
- when someone is screaming "hey kayla" at you from yards away and then continues to scream this said name and then bang on your door and ring your doorbell incessantly until you answer. which you won't. because you are not kayla. and you're currently staring at this person from behind the curtain questioning who this kayla being is.
(note to readers: i do in fact know who kayla is.)
- being that person screaming "hey kayla" to the very not-kayla individual. can i get an amen if you've been that person?
amen.

awesome
- the first real thunderstorm of the upcoming warm summer months. thunder. lightning. rain smashing against the window pains. aweeeeesome.
- that the people that you least expect to meet are those that make such a drastic impact in your life. and how vital they become to your exsistence and who you truly are.
- having moving, emotional, hilarious conversations with your very best girlfriend.
there is nothing more awesome than this (:
- the video in the post seen below. psssstt watch it! because children and fairy-tales are by far my most favorite thing. and who doesn't love a good baby owl?
- not to toot my own horn, but the outfits i have had on the last few days. not only were they professional and sophisticated in an "i'm an alumni and i wanna teach your kids" sorta way, but they also had a great big piece of  my personality tied in. downfall: no pics. i know, i stink.
but by all means, i'm still gonna toot away.
- hoops & yoyo cards. as if you have never opened one of them when you find yourself in a greeting card store. or walmart. or public place in general. and when they are in plush form (see above) they are even better.

4.26.2012

A&A (on a rainy day)

jeans NY&Co. (old); sweater Gap; cardigan f21 (old); rainboots j.crew factory

awkward:
- how ridiculously pale i look in the previously posted post. yes, i know it is very sunny out. yes, i know it was also winter. but for a girl like me that usually has some sort of tan to her complexion (even if it is brushed on with some bronzer), i am not feeling this draco malfoy look i've got going on.
- skorts. i thought i encountered one yesterday. it actually was just very voluminous shorts.
- in other awkward news, very voluminous shorts that cannot be depicted from a skort/uni-short/skirt.
- dreams where i am not sure if i am awake or am asleep and even worse, when i wake up and am not sure if i am actually awake. and i say to myself "am i in a dream within a dream?" and i go completely inception on myself.
- the length of my hair. i wish it would make up its mind if it is long or short because i could not tell ya.
- the picture my mother snagged of me as i was lying in my room, masses of clothing/accessories/garbage/loads of crapola piled around me as i emptied and reorganized my closet. if it wasn't so painfully awkward it would be posted.
point. made.

awesome:
- being reunited this very weekend with my very best friends a la college. that means not only am i seeing old roomie and cheerleading bus buddy but a handful of other friends in which i miss dearly. i can't help but singing reunited and it feels sooooo gooooood.
- cell phones. actually telephones altogether. because if it weren't for them i wouldn't have hour long conversations with my best-friends-since-the-third-grade friend for hours on end. and Lord knows that i might as well be a chicken with my head cut off without her.
for reals.
- DQ double fudge frozen hot chocolates.
- my discovery of lipstick. Revlon's siren, to be exact.
- how long my nails are currently. and the fact that the only reason two of them are short is because they broke not because i picked at them.
- the AMAZING steals i walked away with from Gap yesterday. i'm talking two dresses, one sweater, one shirt, and a pair of shorts all for $50.
mmmmhmm. ah-maz-ing.
- the fact that i have three, count um THREE, followers. little bloggie thanks all three of you for being such wonderful friends and tagging along on my journey!

pssstt...remember those cherry red rainboots i talked about in this post? well, i finally got'um! and for a whopping 50% their original price! i guess procrastination does pay off...sometimes...

4.19.2012

A&A

for starters...things have been a little more awkward than usual...

ever been teaching (for probably more than half of you who are reading this you never wanted to step back in a classroom the day you graduated that last tier of education you decided to conquer) in a classroom and all the kids are bigger then you? nope? i have. ever had one of these precious little darlings tell you that you look 16? nope? i have. ever have this same special child tell you that you look like you belong in high school? nope? guess what...

rewind: ever drive to the wrong school that you are supposed to substitute in only to find out you have to drive the opposite direction another fifteen minutes to get there? and that teacher doesn't exist here? and you have to smile genuinely and pretend like this was all your fault and a huge misunderstand? and oh yeah...you're now late...

fast-forward: have you ever been teaching a lesson and there is that long division of fractions that you thought you'd never need again in your life? guess what...the answer to that question way back in sixth grade was finally answered for me.

and in conclusion: ever scream all the way home at the top of your lungs? okay i haven't either, but some days you sure do feel like it right?

now, for the wonderfully amaze-balls (Guilianna Rancic has quite the interesting vocabulary) awesome things that make me smile all week long...
1. 70 degree sunny weather that provides for the perfect (not too hot, not too cold) drive home with the windows down, radio on, for the very first time this year. oh, and did i mention, getting out the sandals for the first seasonal wear? yup, that happened this week too.
2. waking up a half hour before my alarm goes off and knowing that, for thirty more minutes, this girl is heading back off to dreamland.
 3. giving myself a "personal day" to sip on coffee and become completely enthralled in a book.
 4. that absolutely wonderful best friend of mine.
5. that someday, and when i say some day i really mean some day in the very far away future of days and years to come, i will be thankful for my youthful looks that make twenty-two year old me appear to be the ripe old age of sixteen. future me is going to be pretty ecstatic about this someday.

pssssttt..if you haven't done it yet, go over to nugget on a budget and check out my summer essentials guest post. it's amaze-balls.

4.12.2012

A&A

contrary to my perfectly scheduled and planned lifestyle that i (attempt) to lead, oh how i do adore surprises. but, in all reality, this is no surprise at all. big sista and little niece are currently sitting on the couch in mi casa to visit for the next two days. why you may ask? to spend some glorious time with their most favorite person alive? well, yes...and no. there are some other people that they will be visiting. like my cousin who just had a beautiful baby girl in january and my sister (and niece) are just dying to meet! and also to join momma and i in watching my dad coach his undefeated (yes that's 4-0!) girl's soccer team. but still...i'm counting their visit as a surprise!

shirt j.crew factory; pants old navy (old) (similar here); belt forever 21(old); shoes francesca's (old); purse michael kors

Awkward:
1. when i'm standing outside to take these purty little pictures and it's sunny and gorgeous and birds are chirping and oh yeah...downpour.
2.  going on an ice cream run to DQ and as i'm driving there it begins to rain. now this, you may say, is not so awkward but the fact that the nice little car in front of me in the drive-thru would not pull up and i'm literally hanging my head out the window, in the pouring rain, to scream at the intercom "can you hear me?!" is a little awkward...
3. how many people does it take to put together a $30 shelf from target? if you guessed three, you are correct.
4. when i get calls to substitute any time between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. and i am not awake and i'm groggy and don't even remember if the phone call happened or not and that poor lady and what she must think while she is talking to me on the phone, and i have her repeat the name of the person i'm subbing for maybe five times?
5. the hurricane that is my room. who said reorganizing my closet was a good idea? i'd like to find that someone and give them a piece of my mind! sometimes i wonder where i get these grand ideas.

Awesome:
1. big sista and baby niece are currently visiting! (always an awesome)
2. skype. shout out to whoever it is that thought of creating something as wonderful as video chat. you, whoever you are, are a lifesaver of friendships.
3. caramel delight pie blizzard from DQ - just saying.
4. that big sis will be writing a post on THIS VERY BLOG tomorrow. i cannot wait for you all to read all about what she has to say as well as take a look at her fly momma style (;
5. the arm that my niece has. i have never seen a sock monkey fly so high and so far in my life. honestly, i think that little girl can throw farther than i can (and that right there is just a little bit awkward)

3.29.2012

A&A

Awkward
1.  Trying for a good hour and a half to figure out how to make a nifty little button for my blog so I can spread the word about my little space of web and invite friends to read my blog and post my little'ol button to their blog so we can be bloggy friends.  Not only did it take me that terribly long, but I had to phone a friend for help.
Yeah.  But, (side note) steal my button from over there and leave a comment to your blog so we can become friends (:
2.  Listening to the radio for so long that when I finally change back to listening to CD's the one that is currently loaded in my car is Michael Buble's Christmas album.  And I listen to it. And belt out every single word to every single songAnd it's March.
3.  Walking in to the nail salon and seemingly nice manicure man asking me what we want done.  I tell him I want a manicure, color in hand, and ask if I can have glitter on these nails.  Not so nice manicure man explains that I CANNOT have glitter on just "dat nail" that I must have it on all and it is $25.  $12 for normal color.  Take a guess what I chose.
Manicure Personnel-1, M-0.
4.  When the nice lady doing my nails tells me that I have small nails. Proceeds to tell me that they are like little girls' nails.  And hard to paint.  Manicure Personnel-2, M-0.
5.  Running late for my dentist appointment and calling the office to tell them that I would be a few twenty minutes late.  Which for me, thinking that my appointment is at 2:30, that realistically I'll get there in ten minutes and everything will be fine.  Until the very nice lady from the dentist's office tells me that my appointment was at 2:00 (time on clock now reads 2:15) and that we have to reschedule, again.
6.  This version of Little Bunny Foo-foo

Awesome
1.  Dates with friends to get mani's and catch up and do all things girly.  Might I mention that this being said, my nails are now officially ready for spring.
And really, friend since middle school - you are awesome all on your own because these days, friends like you are hard to come by.
2.  Dinner dates with your momma and aunt who tell thee most hilarious stories I have ever heard, even in public, and laughing until I have to get up and use the restroom twice. And sitting there until, oh well, probably eight o'clock, even though we sat down at...um, 5ish.
3.  That one cold day we had this week where I had to pull out my fleece blanket and heavy socks but could read my book by the fire and see not a cloud floating in the sky.
4.  Weasley my dog. My french bulldog. Which I do not own. Yet.
(Can a girl dream?)

A&A

(Because, despite my soul being in the middle of a searching process right now, I couldn't miss a second A&A Thursday.)

Awkward:
1.  So little'ol me (which if I haven't mentioned I'm literally a squirt -- all five foot flat of me) is standing waiting to order at Subway and this probably very nice gentleman comes in and is waiting to order as well.  But he isn't just waiting to order.
He is standing looking at the menu with probably only a good little smidgen of distance away from breaking my personal space bubble.  But it doesn't end there.
Because the very nice gentleman went right ahead and burst.my.bubble (figuratively - the personal space one previously mentioned) and is now to the point of breathing down my neck so badly that I am probably catching his germs until the point that I am literally about to jump out of my skin.
2.  Driving along on the highway dreaming of not driving along on the highway and all the things that you could be doing at that point in time and so you begin counting down the mile markers, in a fake British accent, which comes to a climatic yell at the mile that you believe is your exit.
And it's not.
Awkward.
3.  Telling a story to somone that pertains to something that you know all about and getting about half way through and realizing that the person you are telling the story to knows nothing about said topic.  You continue anyway because the person gives you that awkward nod of encouragement to proceed and when you reach the end you're hysterical and they are...well...not.
4.  Walking in to your bedroom and there is a house-elf jumping up and...oh wait, that was Harry Potter, not me.
5.  Daylight savings.  Every day I still seem to find a clock that is an hour behind which temporarily throws me in to a mild panic attack.

Awesome:
1.  First graders. Pure innocent awesomeness. And not to mention they really know how to brighten a very gloomy week.  Like starting off your day with a hug from each and every one of their ever-lovin little selves, or bringing you a daffodil, freshly picked on the way to school.
2.  ABC Family for choosing the week that I need it most to play a Harry Potter marathon starting yesterday and lasting all the way until Sunday.
3.  Referring to previously mentioned first graders -- one of those little darlings looking uncanningly like Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, and acting like her, and dressing like her...and you wanting to just hug girl because she has no idea how incredibly awesome she is.
4.  Dinner at Chili's with girlfriends, bright neon dresses and pants, and a fresh coat of paint on my toes to welcome in the first day that I didn't mind the warm weather.

A&A

found on Pinterest, c/o here

Awkward:
1.  Fog.  I have never been a fan of fog.  It's misty rainy concocture that looms over the mornings is never a great way to start a day and when it lingers in to the late morning hours it downright turns most of us who venture out into little old lady drivers.
2.  Seeing a student in the third grade class that I am substituting in pick up Harry Potter (all 600 some pages of it) and read it during every second of free time the child had.  This may not seem awkward, except for the fact that all I wanted to do was sit and discuss the book with the kid...yeah, awkward.
3.  Taking my phone everywhere.  Now, when I say everywhere I mean everywhere.  Go to the bathroom, check.  Take a shower, check.  Making dinner, check.  Going to bed, check.  Seeing as I never want to miss a call incase it is to sub, I have now entered a brand new level of my relationship with my cell.  Truth:  I'm married to it.
4.  Trying on bathing suits.  To be completely real for about two seconds, no one enjoys this, ever

Awesome:
1.  A day off (or in my case, a day when everyone else decides to be healthy, leaving you jobless) which forces you to do absolutely nothing but curl up and watch the 6 hour marathon of your favorite show.  Hey, we all have done it, and quite honestly, I am guilt free in indulging (:
2. My brand new purse which will hopefully make an apperance in the very near future.  And on that note, whoever it was who developed the very first TJMaxx, making it possible for me to own this beautiful little addition.
3.  Harry Potter.  Seeing as my generation is known as the "Potter Generation", I joined the group of Potter-heads in a somewhat delayed, reverse order.  I saw all the movies (my first exposure being a field trip in 6th grade to the first movie which is pure awesome-ness at its finest) as soon as they arrived in theater (or DVD) and could barely contain myself to holdout a second longer to see the final installment of the series this past summer.  But it was only after seeing all 8 films that I decided to approach the books.  Being someone who tends to not be a fan of "read and compare", I hesitated, but I soon was sucked into a wicked habit of finishing a book in a weekend and following it up by viewing the partnered film and comparing.  Awesomely enough, I love Harry Potter, awkwardly enough I am having difficulty falling in love with any other book and/or series.  And I truly believe that I would have never appreciated the books at the ripe old age of 12 as I do now.

Have a wonderfully awkward/awesome first day of March!

A&A

Awkward:
1. When you are on the phone with a friend who happens to lose service and you talk and talk and go on for about ten minutes until your phone begins to ring and you realize that, "ohhhhh, yeahhhhh, I wasn't just talking on the phone to no one for the last ten minutes or anything..."
2. When you're sitting awkwardly alone watching boyfriend play hockey and this awkward janitor man comes up to you and starts asking you all these questions about what Joe-Shmo said to you last week when an awkwardly disgusted woman is yelling at you for some reason that is unknown to you because..well..you aren't who he thinks you are.  And then you have to tell him that he has you mistaken with someone else and you are sorry but you don't know what Joe-Shmo said to said girl that he thought you were.  Awkward Janitor man apologizes awkwardly and then continues to talk for about five more minutes about how he awkwardly had mistaken you for someone else. Awkward
3. How if you hear a word too many times it begins to not sound right and you begin to question if you are even spelling it correctly anymore.  Hint, this is how I feel about the previous "awkward" statement.
4. Hearing the conversation of 2 teenage girls in the dressing room about how "my butt looks sooooo fat in this dress" and her friend responding by saying "I don't think that it exactly..umm..flatters you...in...umm..the right way...." and the debate continues for about five more minutes until the conversation goes on in to other awkward topics that I'd rather not discuss...and should not be discussed in a public dressing room..

Awesome:
1.  Fat Tuesday.  Besides all of the religious connections (Ash Wednesday the next day and the significance of the beginning of Lent) I really have always enjoyed the part of Fat Tuesday that connects directly to that little picture right up there ^.  Fasnachts.  Not only are they awesome for the pure sake of their neat-o name but their hot, warm, salivating deliciousness is the definition of awesome.  And come on, they are awesome for days to follow.
2.  My sister.  Yes she is awesome for so many reasons besides just being my sister, and one of those reasons being this little blog right over here! Big seester decided to start her very own blog and I think it would be awesome for you to head on over and check her out!
2 1/2. My sweet baby niece getting not only her first, but her SECOND! tooth.  And all of her cute little giggles.  And all of the sweet little pictures that my sister sends me, and well the fact that she is such a tiny little bundle of joy that her cuteness (and awesomeness) could only be appropriately posted if she was numbered as a "1/2" because her little baby goodness is just seemes to be represented best as "1/2".  (Awkwardly probably only making sense to me making this a toss up between awkward and awesome)
3.  Gingerbread latte creamer. Mmm Mmm good.
4.  How many times I used "awkward" in one awkward post.  And really, it did no justice what-so-ever to how awkward the situation really was.

A&A

So, I must admit that I'm a faithful reader of blogs (which I guess could either fall in one or the other, or even both, of the categories we will soon discuss below), and this little blog over here is one of the main reasons.  I must insist that you head on over and check out Sydney's blog because she is phe-nom-i-nal!

This being said, I introduce you to a little thing that Sydney calls "Awkward and Awesome Thursdays" (I know, so fun, right?)  And that is why that little button is over there -->

Every Thursday she posts some awkward and awesome moments and I decided that I would give it a whirl, although, it will take quite sometime for my awkward and awesome-ness to be as amazing as hers, so again, check her out!

Here we go!

Awkward
1. The fact that I completely get beside myself over the fact that Disney movies are on tv for me to watch (i.e. The Lion King which was on last night and Tangled which is currently on my tv screen) and that I sing along to every song I know *picture me belting out Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
2. When I go out to the end of the driveway to bring in the carbage cans, in the pouring rain, in my rainboots...and pajamas.
3.  When I realize that the sixth graders in the class I am substituting in are bigger then me, like really bigger than me, like I look like a first grader next to them...and they notice it too.
4.  Posting a fourth "awkward" because I hate odd numbers...you've been warned.

Awesome
1.  Rainy days!  Because sometimes nothing beats being curled up on the couch, watching movies and drinking hot tea out of a Christmas mug.  (The Christmas mug may be awkward, but I'm going with awesome)
2.  Peanut butter toast.  Seriously, melted peanut butter is the epitome of awesomeness.
3.  Hanging out with 20-some kindergarteners for a whole entire day as their substitute teacher.  There is nothing more amazing then the things they are capable of learning (and saying).
4.  Cable knit sweaters with elblow patches, currently my obession and the most comfortable for dreary days and brunch dates with girlfriends.
